Director and Co-Founder
Gina Murray is the co-founder and director of Aware Senior Care, an award-winning in-home care agency in Cary, North Carolina. She is a registered nurse with more than 30 years in the field of gerontology. Prior to founding Aware Senior Care in 2014, Gina spent more than 15 years at one of the top skilled nursing facilities in North Carolina, serving as the Nursing Supervisor, Nurse Manager and Assistant Director of Nursing. She also worked for Hospice of Wake County and was instrumental in the opening and management of the first inpatient hospice facility in the region.
Gina brings a very personal perspective to her work as the co-founder and director of Aware Senior Care. After caring for both of her parents as they struggled with illness and home care needs, she went through the same difficult emotions so many adult children face as they begin to care for aging parents. Gina brings this unique combination of professional skills and personal experience to every family she meets at Aware Senior Care. Today, the agency is the top-rated in-home care agency in the Triangle, and they’re recognized every year for their excellent work. Notably, the company has won seven top national awards in the past year for its care and service.
Gina’s commitment to seniors extends beyond her day-to-day work with the team at Aware Senior Care. She also sits on the board of the Triangle Aphasia Project (TAP), and she is proud to sponsor an annual nursing student scholarship at Wake Technical Community College. The “Gina Murray/Cary Kildaire Rotary RN Nursing Scholars Award” honors one deserving nursing student with the financial support to continue pursuing their dream of a career dedicated to helping others.
In May of 2019, Gina was honored by the Association for Home & Hospice Care of North Carolina with the Sherry Leigh Thomas Nurse of the Year Award
Chief Executive Officer
Managing and leading the business aspects of Aware Senior Care, Tim is an alumnus of the Villanova University School of Engineering. He served our country as a U.S. Navy Submarine Officer, and spent much of his career as an executive in the technology industry.
His vision for an in-home care organization stems from the struggles following his own father’s stroke and time in a nursing facility. That experience led Tim to ensure his mother could stay in her home, despite difficulties with memory loss and household maintenance. Tim’s intimate understanding of the stresses of a loved one’s need for independence makes him uniquely qualified to recruit only the best caregivers and manage the day-to-day operations at Aware Senior Care.
Since starting Aware with his wife and RN Director Gina Murray in October of 2014, the company is currently the most awarded and reviewed home care agency in the Triangle achieving Home Care Pulse’s highest award as a 2019 Leadership recipient along with best home care from Senioradvisor.com as well as earning a caring star as best home care from caring.com. Tim is currently a board member of the Dementia Alliance of North Carolina and a member of the Cary-Kildaire Rotary Club.
Care Coordination Manager
Mae is our Care Coordinator Manager. This is a management position responsible for the recruiting and retention of caregivers, scheduling of caregivers with families and client care management and monitoring.
As a graduate from North Carolina State University with a degree in Biochemistry, Mae has been employed in various patient settings including home-care and senior living facilities. These have provided a wealth of practical experience caring for dementia as well as chronic debilitating illnesses. Her expertise goes well beyond one-on-one care, as she ensures that staff is properly trained and informed for each visit. Her communication skills and willingness to seek the best solutions for the client and the caregiver are key components to the function and heart of our agency.
Mae’s personal experience includes caring for her elderly family members at a young age in Nigeria. She and her husband happily reside in a suburb of Raleigh with their four kids where, as you can imagine, the care does not end with the end of the work day.
As our office administrator, Micah is responsible for all aspects of running the Aware Office, including intake of new clients looking for home care help, assisting HR with new caregiver onboarding and orientation and assisting Tim with company operations.
Micah volunteered eleven years for a world-wide non-profit organization in the state of New York where he trained and worked as an EMT and ambulance driver.
In 2013, Micah lead in the construction and establishment of a non-profit, Long-Term Care facility called Legacy Place Cottages, an assisted living home for the elderly with a co-located memory care unit in Allentown, PA.
Micah worked as Operations Manager leading all aspects of the home’s administration from addressing resident’s care-giver concerns to ordering the food and furniture and hiring staff.
Micah is a true “military brat.” He has lived in many places including Turkey, Guam, and throughout the United States. Micah recently relocated with his wife Beth to the Cary area to be closer to family.
Guided by passion and her own personal experience in caregiving, Sarah aims to establish compassionate relationships between both clients and caregivers. Being tasked with managing the scheduling process, Sarah holds a two- fold responsibility. Sarah focuses on learning the backgrounds and personalities of the caregiver staff, as well as understanding the needs of each client. In doing so, she is able to determine the best match to fulfill the client’s needs. Sarah understands that communication is paramount in achieving success in her role as scheduling coordinator. Her ultimate goal is to achieve long lasting client and caregiver relations.
Sarah graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor Degree in Exercise Science and studied Emergency Medicine and Nursing at Pensacola State College. Sarah is the oldest of five siblings and has experienced the deeply challenging, yet equally rewarding opportunity to provide care for her mother. During this time, Sarah gained first hand insight of what it means to be an exceptional caregiver. Sarah recently relocated from Pensacola, FL and is very excited to be a part of the Aware team.
Web Content Manager
Kyle has been working in the entertainment and social media industries for over seven years since graduating from the University of North Carolina. He has been involved in the development of major television programs for PBS, ESPN, E! Entertainment, and Bunim-Murray Productions. His marketing experience includes monitoring social media campaigns and breaking down analytics for Digisynd, the social media wing of Disney. Kyle aims to utilize social media platforms to promote awareness for senior care options available to those seeking them.
