Who is Home Care Pulse?

Home Care Pulse is an independent research firm that provides three primary services to assist home care agencies. It was founded in 2008 by Aaron Marcum, a former home care business owner, with the objective of providing home care business owners a way to address negative experiences that might otherwise go unnoticed.

In 2020, Home Care Pulse celebrated its 1 Millionth survey completed and over ten years of working with hundreds of agencies in the United States.

What does Home Care Pulse do for Agencies?

Caregiver and Client Surveys

Each month, Home Care Pulse will contact caregivers and clients (who will vary each month) and conduct surveys. The caregiver or client will give a rating from 1 to 10 (10 being the highest grade) and provide a short comment on their number. Each rating will fall into particular categories depending on the feedback received.

This can include:


  • Recommends provider
  • Ability of caregivers
  • Communication of provider


  • Recommends employment
  • Caregiver recognition
  • Client/Caregiver Compatibility

Example survey questions for clients and caregivers include:

  • How satisfied are you with the communication and overall helpfulness of the office staff?
  • How would you rate the impact of the services on your daily life?
  • How would you rate the ability of your caregivers to provide the care needed?
  • Why did you choose to work for [Home Care Agency] over other options?

The ratings are then compiled and used to construct detailed reports. Detailed might be an understatement.

Here’s a look at the data you’ll receive each month based on the ratings collected by Home Care Pulse.

From these reports you can determine:

  • If clients and caregivers are promoters or detractors of your company
  • How you compare to the rest of the industry in each of the survey question categories over the last 12 months
  • How your monthly average compares to your previous 12 months in each category
  • What clients and caregivers are your strongest promoters
  • What clients and caregivers need to take priority due to lower ratings

With this information, you have the data to know exactly where you stand with your clients and caregivers on a monthly basis.

More importantly, you’ll know exactly how you compare to some the biggest names in the home care industry, both regionally and nationally.


Aware Senior Care is a Leader in Excellence — What It Is and Why It Matters

Every January, each agency is evaluated by Home Care Pulse to see if they meet the criteria for three annual awards.

They are:

  • Provider of Choice
  • Employer of Choice
  • Leader in Excellence

The first award, Provider of Choice, requires an overall satisfaction score of 8.75 or higher with at least 12 client surveys completed in the previous year.

The second award, Employer of Choice, has the same requirements but with 12 caregiver surveys completed in the previous year.

The Leader in Excellence award requires the agency to earn both aforementioned awards and an overall satisfaction score of 8.9 or higher.

The agencies that earn all three awards represent the top 15% of agencies in the country.  They are industry leaders that are proactive in order to meet their clients and caregivers’ needs and do so while achieving high marks.

Aware Senior Care has earned the 2021 Leader in Excellence award which makes three in a row overall, as well as four years in a row as a Provider and Employer of Choice.

These awards demonstrate that Aware Senior Care is an agency that both clients and caregivers can trust to do the right thing on their behalf.
